Before the Impact Today in Elk Grove

I’m Ed Smith, an Elk Grove Car Accident Lawyer. The Elk Grove Police Department and the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office will present Before the Impact prevention program today, Saturday February 6, 2016 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. The safe driver program may be attended  by showing up at  8400 Laguna Palms Way in Elk Grove.

This excellent and powerful program focuses on the tragic impact of making unsafe and poor driving decisions. This includes driving while intoxicated and distracted driving.  The program also discusses the dangers of getting into a car as a passenger with an unsafe driver. Many times, it is the passenger’s injuries that are greater than the driver who is distracted or impaired.

The program is a 90-minute presentation. It gives middle and high school students a close-up snapshot of what happens before and after a car crash. The presentation includes shocking photos, victim’s clothing, and actual vehicle of a terrible car crash that could have been avoided.  This is proving to be a powerful teaching tool for parents to present to their kids.

Before the Impact is also made available throughout the year to clubs and other organizations in Sacramento and Elk Grove.

Before the Impact was created with a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.

Deadly car crashes are responsible for causing more fatalities than any other cause for those aged 34 and under.  Sadly, teens are at the highest risk for death from distracted driving or drunk and otherwise impaired driving accidents.

Distracted driving is doing anything that takes one’s attention away from the roadway. Distracted driving is talking or texting on your cell phone while operating a motor vehicle.  Other driving distractions include fussing with your children, grabbing for items in the car, eating, applying make up, tuning the radio, the list goes on ad infinitum.
