Auto Accident Fatally Injures Turlock Man Near Knights Ferry

What Happened?
A 23-year-old Turlock man was driving his Jeep Cherokee westbound along Highway 108 and 120 just before 2:00 pm. For unknown reasons, the Jeep veered into the eastbound lane of travel and in the direct path of a Chevrolet Tahoe. The Chevrolet driver was unable to avoid the vehicle in their path, resulting in a serious head-on collision.
Nature of Injuries
Emergency personnel were called to the scene of the auto accident to render aid to the drivers of the Jeep and Chevrolet. The Chevrolet driver, a 55-year-old man of Los Altos, was transported to the Memorial Medical Center in Modesto for treatment of major injuries. The Jeep driver was, sadly, pronounced deceased at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.
Identity of Victim
The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of the accident as Eddie Fernando Gonzales of Turlock.
What Caused the Accident?
The cause of the auto accident is not yet known due to ongoing investigation. Investigators do not believe that alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision.
