Auburn Head-On Crash Injures Four

Reports from the Auburn Police Department (APD) stated that a major car accident took place in Auburn on Monday, December 24, 2018. The crash involved two passenger vehicles and left four people with injuries, all of whom were taken to a nearby hospital to be given emergency medical care. Whether or not any of the injuries were life-threatening has not been reported, and updates on their conditions remain unavailable. APD stated that they are currently investigating the accident and are attempting to determine which factors may have caused it to happen.

Crash Information

Police reported the collision occurred shortly after 3:00 p.m. near the intersection of Sacramento Street and Auburn Folsom Road a short distance south of Racetrack Street. An officer at the accident scene told reporters that a southbound vehicle with one occupant had veered to the left and crossed over into oncoming lanes of traffic. After entering the other side of the roadway, the car collided head-on with an SUV occupied by a driver and two passengers. Photos taken at the collision scene show significant damage to the front ends of both vehicles and reports stated that debris was scattered as far as 20 feet away from the crash location.

Response

The Redding Fire Department and APD officers assisted with emergency response. Medical officials arriving at the accident scene found that all vehicle occupants had sustained serious trauma and had them transported to hospitals immediately. No other vehicles or people were involved in the crash.

Investigation

The accident is currently under investigation by APD. However, investigating officers have not yet reported what they believe may have caused the crash. Wrong-way driving is a common factor in severe accidents and can be caused by a variety of factors. Some of these factors include driver distraction, loss of vehicle control due to faulty auto parts, slick roads or other roadway hazards, driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, and more.

Recovering from Serious Injuries

Injuries that people suffer in car accidents can be severe and recovering can take months and even years. In the most severe cases, people are left with permanent symptoms that can change the way they live their lives. Traumatic brain injuries, spinal trauma, broken bones, and other common accident injuries often mean going through a long process of physical recovery, paying for multiple surgeries, taking daily medications, dealing with mental issues like PTSD, and more.

This can all seem overwhelming, but crash survivors can often recover financially for their damages by filing “personal injury claims.” These claims seek to provide people who have been injured in accidents with the money they need to pay for lost income, household services, medical bills, and other essential costs. However, these cases and the payments available can be very different between cases. To get an idea of what your personal injury case may entail, the best thing to do is to get advice from an Auburn personal injury lawyer who has ample experience handling cases like yours.
