Facts about Antioch

Antioch is a suburb of Oakland and San Francisco, with the 2010 census estimating the city population to be approximately 102,372. Antioch belongs to the Eastern Bay region of San Francisco Bay Area, running along the San Joaquin-Sacramento River Delta.

The primary route of transportation used by Antioch citizens is the freeway State Route 4, which can take you to Interstate 80 in roughly a half-hour. Alternatively, traveling eastbound down Route 4 will connect you to Interstate 5. When it comes to public transportation, the Tri-Delta Transit Agency is the primary provider for the people of Antioch.

5-Year Old Involved in Pedestrian Accident

At approximately 2:45 p.m. on Monday, October 23rd, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (ConFire) arrived at 2400 block of Yorkshire Drive near Country Manor Park. Once at the collision site, they discovered that a pedestrian-and-vehicle collision left a 5-year old girl with severe injuries. The ConFire crews found the girl lying on the ground.

In less than 10 minutes upon their arrival, medical personnel had the child en route towards a helicopter’s designated landing spot. The female child was transported via airlift from Southeast Antioch to the Children’s Hospital in Oakland.

In addition, the firefighters also alerted the police after observing a group of people gathered around the vehicle driver, who was receiving multiple threats from bystanders.

As the details of this unfortunate accident are still unfolding, the cause of the collision is not yet known.

Pedestrian Auto Accidents

Occasionally, pedestrians seem to appear out of nowhere, and as a responsible driver, one must do everything possible to avoid striking them with a vehicle. Unfortunately, accidents happen for a variety of reasons. If you ever find yourself or a loved one involved in a pedestrian-auto accident, knowing the next moves to make is crucial.

  • Call for emergency medical assistance if anyone appears to be injured.
  • Immediately make sure that anyone involved in an accident is in a safe spot that remains out of the way of traffic.
  • Work with Police to file an official accident report.
  • Document the collision by taking pictures or videos.
  • Inform your car insurance provider.
  • Exchange names, contact information, and insurance information with anyone else involved in the accident.
  • Do not admit fault on your behalf.
