Serious Alleged DUI Accident Near Willows

On Wednesday, March 4, 2020, California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that an alleged DUI accident near Willows left two people with serious injuries. According to police, the crash happened on a rural highway just west of Willows and involved two different vehicles, including a sedan and pickup truck. The two injured individuals have been identified as a 53-year-old woman from Chico and a 42-year-old man from Sparks, Nevada. Updates on their health conditions have not been released.

Crash Details

Officers stated that the collision occurred on Highway 162 just west of the County Road FF intersection during the afternoon. A Chevy Sedan was heading east on 162 while a westbound Ford pickup truck was approaching the same location. According to reports, the Chevy attempted to turn and, as a result, drifted into westbound lanes and entered the pickup truck’s path.

The two vehicles collided, causing the pickup truck to overturn. The truck eventually came to a stop in the road while the sedan stopped on the northern side of the highway after striking a utility pole.

Response and Arrest

After they received a phone call reporting the crash, CHP dispatch sent a response team to the accident scene. Upon arriving, emergency officials determined that both drivers had been severely injured and had them transported to area hospitals.

Before she was released into hospital custody, CHP reportedly placed the sedan driver under arrest for charges of driving under the influence causing injury.

Rollover Collisions

When vehicles overturn, people often suffer very serious trauma. Rollovers are especially dangerous with vehicles like SUVs or pickup trucks, which tend to be heavier, putting even more weight on the roof when rolling. When these accidents happen, vehicle roofs are liable to crumple under the force of the impact, leaving occupants with what are called “roof crush injuries.”

Because auto companies are expected to ensure the products they sell are safe, they are often considered a negligent party in the event of a rollover crash involving roof crush injuries. This means that crash survivors may be able to hold these companies liable for damages.

Accident Trauma

Being injured in a car accident often dramatically affects peoples’ lives. Crash injuries can require extensive medical care that can include surgeries as well as extended medication use and physical therapy. For many, the process of recovering takes months or years and involves a lot of both physical pain and mental stress. Furthermore, paying for medical expenses can be difficult, especially if being injured has made it hard for you to work.

In order to make sure that you have the funds you need to cover these expenses and losses, it’s important to get advice from a personal injury lawyer about filing a claim. Crash survivors who pursue personal injury claims are frequently able to obtain payments for a wide range of damages.
