Willows Area Crash Causes Major Trauma

On Monday, October 21, 2019, a Willows area crash left one woman with major injuries. According to officers from California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident happened in the late evening on a highway in Glenn County. Police indicated that, in addition to the severely injured woman, one man also received minor injuries during the accident. The crash reportedly only involved one vehicle and remains under investigation.

Crash Details

The accident took place at 6:40 p.m. on Highway Interstate 5 close to the exit for County Road 20. A 27-year-old Stockton man had been driving a 1996 Toyota Corolla sedan and was heading south on the highway when his vehicle suddenly veered for unknown reasons. The Toyota reportedly drove off the highway and struck a concrete embankment along the western edge of the County Road 20 overpass.

When emergency response staff arrived at the collision site, they found that the vehicle’s passenger had suffered major injuries, including a laceration on the back of her head. The woman, identified as a 25-year-old Stockton resident, was rushed to a nearby hospital via ambulance for immediate care. Responders indicated that the vehicle driver suffered minor lacerations on one of his knees during the incident.

Head Injuries

Injuries that affect the head are often severe and are a very common type of trauma that accident survivors suffer. When the head sustains any type of trauma, there is usually a risk of a brain injury. Because the brain controls the majority of your body’s functions, a brain injury can have far-reaching consequences to your health. Many people experience both physical and cognitive issues after sustaining a traumatic brain injury, and recovery can be a long, difficult process for both crash survivors and their loved ones.

Common symptoms of serious head injuries often include:

  • Confusion
  • Headaches
  • Loss of mobility
  • Difficulty with language
  • Loss of sensation
  • Fatigue
  • Insomnia
  • Nausea

Recovering from a Serious Injury

Those who suffer head injuries in a car accident usually have a difficult road ahead of them. Not only does recovery often take an extended period of time, but the costs of medical procedures, medicines, physical therapy, and other health expenses can be high. Furthermore, being injured can mean no longer being able to perform your job.

These issues can leave people concerned about how they will be able to afford to regain their health after an accident. For this reason, it’s best to reach out to a personal injury lawyer. A good attorney will be able to listen to the details of your case and let you know whether or not you may be able to claim compensation from negligent parties in order to recover financially after your accident. In many cases, crash survivors are able to completely cover their medical costs, lost income, and more by filing a personal injury claim.
