TRACY, CA – In the early hours of Wednesday morning, a devastating head-on collision near Tracy in San Joaquin County left one person dead and another seriously injured, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:33 a.m. along State Route 4, just west of Tracy Boulevard. Authorities say the driver of a westbound pickup truck veered across the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic, striking an SUV head-on.
Tragically, the driver of the SUV lost their life at the scene. The pickup truck driver, who investigators believe was under the influence of alcohol at the time, suffered significant injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a sobering reminder of the irreversible consequences of impaired driving. CHP temporarily closed the roadway during their investigation but had it fully reopened by 2:46 a.m.
Support and condolences go out to the loved ones affected by this tragedy.
