DENAIR, CA – According to the CHP, a woman, aged 80, lost her life following a tragic crash on Wednesday evening at a rural intersection near Denair. The collision happened around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Gratton Road and East Avenue, officials said in a news release.

When emergency crews arrived, they found a Chevrolet pickup and a Honda sedan with significant damage. The Honda’s driver, a 76-year-old man from Delhi, was taken to Memorial Medical Center with serious injuries. His passenger, an 80-year-old woman also from Delhi, was transported to Doctors Medical Center, where she later passed away.

The driver of the Chevy truck, a 16-year-old girl from El Dorado Hills, sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization. A 77-year-old man from Winton who was also riding in the pickup was unharmed.

Investigators reported that the teenage Chevy driver had been traveling south on Gratton Road and came to the intersection at East Avenue but did not yield the right of way. At the same time, the Honda driver was heading west on East Avenue when his car struck the left side of the pickup truck.

Authorities noted that everyone involved was wearing seat belts, and there is no indication that drugs or alcohol played a role. The incident remains under investigation.
