Accidents March 17

TRACY, CA — Tracy firefighters responded Wednesday night to a frightening incident in which a vehicle crashed into a home near Grantline Road and O’Hara Avenue, according to a Facebook post.

Authorities said the driver, a young man, appears to have lost control of the vehicle while traveling at a high rate of speed.

Thankfully, no one was hurt. Even so, the home suffered structural damage, and its residents have been temporarily displaced as crews assess the situation and begin repairs.

Firefighters from Tracy worked together with South County Fire to secure the area and make sure everyone inside was safe.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

GALT, CA – A tragic crash early Saturday morning on Highway 99 in Galt claimed the life of one person, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities said a male driver was traveling with a passenger in a black Honda Civic around 2:40 a.m., just south of Pringle Avenue. The vehicle was moving at an unknown speed when it veered off the roadway, onto the shoulder, and down an embankment.

The car then struck a guardrail and overturned. Investigators believe alcohol may have played a role in the collision.

Responding officers from CHP South Sacramento found the driver with serious injuries, and he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Tragically, the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials noted that the passenger had been wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.

STOCKTON, CA – A 24-year-old man was injured after a frightening series of events in Stockton, where he was shot while driving and then crashed into another vehicle.

According to the Stockton Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting around 6:30 p.m. Sunday near the 1300 block of South Center Street. When they arrived, they found the driver suffering from a gunshot wound, along with a 35-year-old passenger who was not injured.

Investigators believe the driver was heading south on Center Street when someone in another vehicle opened fire, striking him. Despite being wounded, he continued driving before colliding with another car at the intersection of South Center Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Authorities have not released details about the second vehicle or whether anyone else was hurt in the crash.
