MODESTO, CA – A 39-year-old Modesto man died Monday morning after being struck by a car in Modesto, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision happened on Lake Road, just east of Meier Road, and first responders found him with severe injuries that he did not survive.
CHP reports that around 4:40 a.m., a driver was heading east on Lake Road when he came upon a man walking in the eastbound traffic lane ahead of his vehicle. The driver tried to steer left to avoid him, and the pedestrian also moved left, leading to the impact despite the driver’s attempt to prevent a collision.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and his loss will be deeply felt by those who knew him. Authorities say the driver was wearing a seat belt and was not believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.
Investigators are still working to understand all the circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether the pedestrian may have been under the influence of any substances. As the investigation continues, officials have not released further details. Clearly, this is a tragic event for everyone involved. Our hearts go out to the man’s loved ones.

LOS BANOS, CA – A tragic accident west of Los Banos on Sunday claimed the life of a motorcyclist, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision happened around 1:30 p.m. on westbound Highway 152, just past Lower Cottonwood Road.
CHP’s early findings indicate that both the rider, on a 2023 Harley-Davidson, and the driver of a silver 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan were traveling in the No. 2 lane when, for reasons still unclear, the two vehicles made contact. The impact caused the motorcycle to veer into the center median and strike a guardrail. The rider was thrown from the bike and, heartbreakingly, passed away at the scene despite emergency responders’ efforts. Authorities are waiting to share his name until his loved ones have been notified.
The driver of the Volkswagen was not injured, and investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
