Driver Suffers Major Injuries in Crash at West Jensen Avenue Intersection

The driver of a Ford SUV, age 31, suffered serious injuries when his vehicle was struck by a Chevy SUV west of Fresno on September 19 in an intersection crash. The accident occurred at the West Jensen Avenue intersection with South Brawley Avenue. The incident report filed by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that a female Chevy driver, age 29, ran a stop sign at the intersection and T-boned the SUV in the side.

Multiple Injuries Reported in Intersection Crash

The driver of the Chevy suffered injuries described as mild or moderate in the crash at the intersection, while a male passenger in the vehicle also sustained minor trauma. The CHP is investigating the crash and will determine fault in the collision.

T-Bone Accidents Cause Serious Injuries

Accidents where a vehicle is struck broadside causes serious injuries in an intersection crash, especially if the driver who strikes them is speeding. Most vehicles offer much less protection on the sides than in the front and rear, and only newer models are equipped with airbags. Some of the more common types of injuries that occur in a T-bone intersection collision include:

  • Lacerations can occur due to flying glass and pieces of metal striking someone inside the vehicle.
  • Broken bones, especially to the ribs, pelvis, arms and legs, commonly occur in a T-bone accident because the side of the body is less protected.
  • Injuries to the neck and back are caused by the sudden sideways motion of the body, in addition to the impact. Nerve damage and spinal cord injuries can occur.
  • Traumatic brain injuries from concussion to severe trauma can happen in a T-bone intersection crash.
  • Abdominal and chest trauma may occur due to the severity of the intersection crash and are often caused by seat restraints.

The Benefits of Hiring an Accident Injury Lawyer

Since someone who runs a stop sign or red light and causes injuries in an intersection crash would be liable in an accident case, you may ask yourself why you need a lawyer. You do if you want to obtain maximum compensation and ensure that all your medical bills are paid as well as your lost wages. In addition, an injury lawyer can get you compensation for your pain and suffering, which is only fair.

Insurance Companies Often Offer a Low Settlement

Because insurance agencies are businesses, keeping hold of as much money as they can without paying it out in claims is important to them. However, the accident attorneys in our law firm know all their tricks and prevent this from happening. Our object is to get you maximum compensation, so you won’t be left sitting on a pile of unpaid bills, especially when you’re trying to recover from a serious injury.

Your lawyer will not only deal with the insurance company on your behalf but will gather all the documentation and evidence to support your case, including your medical and employment records. The lawyer can estimate what you can recover from pain and suffering also. In addition, because an injury attorney works on a contingency basis, you pay nothing until your case has been won. Normally, using an injury lawyer sees a return of two to three times what you would be offered if you handled the case yourself.
