Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 41 in Fresno County

A driver and passenger were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 41 in Fresno County on December 18, 2020. The fatal car accident occurred in the area of State Route 41 and Mount Whitney Avenue at approximately 5:10 p.m. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that a driver claimed to not have noticed that the cars in front of him had stopped and collided with the car he was traveling behind. That vehicle was propelled into the car in front of it, causing a multi-vehicle accident.

Sadly, the driver and passenger of the first vehicle that was rear-ended succumbed to their injuries, CHP traffic officials reported. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified them as 52-year-old Salvador Llamas and 57-year-old Rasalva Chavez-Contreras. A GoFundMe page has been created on behalf of Ms. Rasalva Chavez-Contreras and Mr. Salvador Llamas to help support their family and pay for final resting expenses.

What is a Wrongful Death Claim and How Can it Help My Family?

A wrongful death claim is a civil action in which surviving family members seek compensatory damages from the individual or entity responsible for causing the death of a loved one. A wrongful death case generally requires evidence to prove that the at-fault party owed the decedent a duty of care, breach of duty, the breach of duty was the direct cause of the death, and that the death of a close relative caused damages that the family is attempting to recover. The surviving spouse, domestic partner, or children of the decedent have priority for filing a wrongful death lawsuit.
