Yuba Crash Fatally Injures Pedestrian

Yuba Crash Fatally Injures Pedestrian – Officers of the Yuba-Sutter and Oroville California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported a severe accident that occurred north of Yuba City during the night of Tuesday, October 2, 2018. The collision left one pedestrian with injuries that tragically cost him his life. The fatally injured pedestrian has not yet been identified by Sutter County authorities, who are waiting until the man’s family has been properly notified. Investigators are currently investigating the accident in order to determine what may have caused it. My condolences are sent out to the pedestrian’s family members and friends after they have lost their loved one.

Crash Details

Officers of CHP stated that the crash took place at about 9:46 p.m. A pedestrian had been walking on Larkin road in Live Oak, a short distance to the south of the Brubaker Lane intersection. The man had been walking in the northbound lane while a white Nissan sedan being driven by a 53-year-old resident of Yuba City had been traveling north on Larkin. The Nissan collided with the pedestrian, throwing him to the ground.

Response

At the scene of the accident emergency responders found the pedestrian lying in the roadway with critical injuries. Tragically, medics were not able to help the man and he was officially pronounced deceased before he could be put on an ambulance. The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with officers. Neither the driver nor either of the vehicle’s two passengers were injured during the accident.

Investigation

While an investigation into the incident is ongoing, officers have not reported which factors they suspect caused this crash. Common factors in pedestrian collisions include poor roadway visibility, distracted driving, speeding, right-of-way violations, malfunctioning vehicle parts, and more.

What to Do After a Fatal Accident

Losing a person you love can be one of the most difficult emotional events of your life. Knowing that they lost their life in a preventable accident can make it even harder and feelings of depression, anger, and anxiety are common. While all of these emotions of grief can seem overwhelming and talking to a lawyer may not be on your mind, those responsible for the accident are usually quick to defend themselves legally. Having an attorney on your side means that you don’t have to worry about taking care of the details of a wrongful death case. Furthermore, the sooner a Yuba City personal injury lawyer can begin working on your case, the abler they are to stop liable drivers and insurance companies from disclaiming responsibility.
