Accident on S.R. 99 Reported Between Sedan and Tractor-Trailer
A traffic injury occurred in Yuba City on April 2 when a motor vehicle collided with a big rig.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the accident around 7:55 a.m. along northbound S.R. 99 at Wilson Road. The accident report stated that the Hyundai Sonata sedan ran into the back of an Old Dominion big rig. Minor injuries were reported in the crash. The accident is being investigated to determine what caused the sedan to rear-end the semi.
Traffic Injury Accidents With Semis
A rear-end collision between a passenger vehicle and a semi often ends badly with traumatic injuries or fatalities. The passenger vehicle often experiences an underride accident with a semi, where the car slides underneath, crushing the top of the vehicle. Some of these types of accidents are caused by negligence on the part of the driver, such as:

Front Vehicle Causes Some Rear-End Collisions
Most rear-end collisions occur because the vehicle in front is moving slowly or traffic has slowed. In 81 percent of these accidents, the vehicle in front had stopped. Causes of a rear-end collision involving a big rig or other large truck are:
- The truck has non-working brake lights.
- The trucker is changing lanes without knowing another vehicle is in the next lane due to their blind spots.
- The driver uses the wrong brakes to stop.
