Yuba City Resident Dies in Motorcycle Accident

On Friday, May 15, a Yuba City resident tragically passed away after he was involved in a motorcycle accident. Sutter County Sheriff’s Office authorities identified the man on Monday, May 18, 2020, as 51-year-old Bobby Dale Fetty. The decedent was reportedly the only party involved in the accident. A GoFundMe page has been created on behalf of Mr. Fetty’s family to help cover his final resting expenses.

Crash Details

The crash happened in the afternoon on the westbound side of Pass Road near the intersection located at Acacia Avenue on the very northern edge of the small community of Sutter. California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports state that Fetty was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on Pass when he entered a left-hand curve.

As he navigated the curve, Fetty apparently lost control of his motorcycle and drifted toward the right-hand edge of the road. Eventually, the motorcycle left the roadway and struck a metal guard rail. Police indicated that the motorcycle continued along the rail until Fetty was ultimately ejected off of the vehicle.

Response

Directly after receiving notification about the incident, CHP dispatched a team of emergency responders to the accident site. Upon arriving, responders discovered that Fetty had sustained severe trauma as the result of his impact with the ground. Tragically, Fetty was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding medical officials.

Investigation

CHP has indicated that they are still investigating what could have caused this horrible accident. Officers released a statement indicating that they do not suspect driving under the influence as a factor. Single-vehicle motorcycle accidents happen frequently, and there are a number of common factors. Many of these causes are non-driver factors that motorcyclists cannot control like faulty motorcycle parts or dangers in the road.

Furthermore, police often have a difficult time investigating collisions in which one or more drivers are unable to offer testimony about the crash. Without the drivers’ side of the story, police may never uncover important evidence that could be a key part of a wrongful death case. Because of this, it is always a good idea to get in touch with an attorney who can use their resources to conduct their own accident investigation.

The Impact of Fatal Accidents

The news of a fatal crash is often devastating. Families who have suddenly lost somebody that they love often go through a very difficult and intense period of grieving. During the first stages of grief, it can be hard to know what to do and it’s common for people to feel overwhelmed or shocked.

Sadly, many families aren’t able to focus on coping with their grief because of pressing financial issues caused by their loss. A death in the family can result in an unexpected loss of income, which can leave people unsure of how they will pay their bills. To make sure your family can receive the compensation they deserve, it’s vital to reach out to a Yuba City wrongful death lawyer and receive advice about filing a claim.
