Major Accidents in Yuba City Leading to a Wrongful Death

A wrongful death occurs when a driver or other entity is negligent and causes the demise of your family member. When it is shown that other drivers were negligent in the Yuba City major crash, the family (spouse or putative spouse and children) may file for wrongful death to recover compensation. Recoverable damages include:

  • End-of-life expenses such as the funeral and burial cost is recovered.
  • The deceased’s income can be recovered until their retirement age, including compensation for the benefits they received in the job.
  • The spouse that survives may place a claim for the loss of affection and consortium.
  • The family children supported by at least 50 percent may recover damages for their loss of parental guidance and nurturing.
  • Loss of the help the decedent provided in the home is recoverable, such as taking care of the children, cooking, mowing the lawn, and servicing the family vehicles.
  • In some claims, the loss of inheritance may be recovered.

Why Do I Need an Injury Lawyer After an Accident?

You will have a better chance of getting a fair settlement after a Yuba City major crash if you hire a wrongful death lawyer who knows the legal system well. An injury lawyer can determine which drivers are liable when multiple vehicles are involved. As well as having experience in similar cases to yours, a personal injury lawyer can assist you in the process.

Because they are experienced in handling wrongful death claims, an accident attorney generally knows how much yours is worth and what compensation you should expect. Paying the lawyer’s fee upfront isn’t necessary. Injured people are represented by attorneys who work on a contingency basis, which means they are not paid unless the lawyer wins their case.

Evidence to Support Your Claim

Personal injury lawyers have investigators they can utilize to build a strong case on your behalf after your loved one’s accident. Some ways to determine liability include accident reconstructionists and witness statements. In addition, the police report is reviewed for mistakes, and surveillance cameras are checked in the area.
