Wrong-Way Collision Near Wadsworth Canal Bridge Causes Fatalities

A wrong-way collision on July 5 cost the lives of a man, age 30, and an unborn child, as well as their dog. The collision happened around 8:30 a.m. west of Yuba City when the sedan driver, whose passenger was a pregnant woman, crossed the double yellow lines for unknown reasons, striking an SUV. Information provided by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said the sedan was moving east along the highway near Wadsworth Canal bridge as the SUV approached from the west.

Third Vehicle Becomes Involved in Wrong-Way Collision

A pickup with a dump trailer following behind the SUV could not stop after the wrong-way collision and struck the vehicle. First responders had to extricate both the driver and a woman. Although an air ambulance transported the man to Sutter Roseville Medical Center, he later died there.

Three People Transported to Hospitals After Head-On Collision

The injured pregnant woman was taken to Adventist Health Rideout, where an attempt was made to save her baby but failed. The injured dog was taken to an animal hospital but also died. The SUV driver was taken to Adventist Rideout Hospital suffering from minor trauma.

Drunk Driving Not Suspected in Deadly Accident

No one was injured in the pickup from the wrong-way collision. Authorities say that alcohol consumption did not appear to factor into the cause of the accident. The CHP traffic accident unit is determining the cause of the collision.

An Injury Lawyer Can Help You Obtain Fair Compensation

When a person is seriously injured or killed through the negligence of another, it can be challenging to obtain fair compensation for their losses. The legal system offers many ways to secure damages, and an experienced injury lawyer can help you navigate these options. They understand your rights as an injured party or grieving family and will work hard to recover total compensation from the responsible parties. A lawyer will also provide much-needed guidance on filing insurance claims and other related issues.

Personal Injury Lawyers Only Practice Those Types of Cases

An experienced injury lawyer will examine all aspects of your personal injury or wrongful death case and develop strategies to help maximize your financial recovery. If you have been injured and are seeking legal representation, finding an injury lawyer who understands your situation and has the experience necessary to help you is essential. An experienced lawyer will be familiar with state-specific laws, including statutes of limitations and other restrictions that could affect your case. They will also be knowledgeable in dealing with medical experts and insurance companies, so they can effectively build a strong case on your behalf.
