Woman Injured in Crash Near Livermore
A woman was injured in a motor vehicle crash near the Livermore area on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. The traffic collision happened around 2:45 a.m. on westbound Interstate 580 near Livermore Avenue in unincorporated Alameda County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Details on the Crash Near Livermore That Left a Woman Injured
A report by officials revealed that a woman was involved in a single-vehicle accident. Her Toyota Camry came to a rest in the fast lane of I-580 after striking a concrete wall. She was reportedly standing outside her vehicle when a Nissan struck her and her car.
The impact of the collision caused the Toyota to catch fire and propelled the driver to the ground, CHP traffic officers reported. Authorities arriving at the scene located the Toyota driver and found her unconscious and injured. She was found between both vehicles and close to the Toyota that was on fire, authorities said.
Two officers with the California Highway Patrol pulled the woman by her arms from the burning vehicle. Life-saving measures were performed on the woman by a CHP officer with the assistance of a physician’s assistant (PA) who was off-duty at the time of the incident.
First responders transported the Toyota driver to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley. She was last reported in critical condition. The Nissan driver sustained injuries described as minor, according to officials. The two CHP traffic officers were commended for their efforts in saving the Toyota driver.
