Motorcyclist Injury Occurs on Dwight D. Eisenhower Highway

A motorcyclist injury happened in an apparent multiple-vehicle accident on August 10 in West Sacramento. The collision occurred along eastbound Interstate 80 at the Enterprise Boulevard off-ramp. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) was initially told about a motorcycle rider who was down in the number two lane. The motorcycle had crashed into the center divider.

Multiple Vehicles Involved in Motorcyclist Injury Accident

However, it turned out that multiple vehicles were involved in the collision, and a SigAlert was issued. Motorists were advised to use caution and expect delays. The roadway was reopened at about 7:23 a.m. A determination is being made on what caused the collision by CHP traffic accident investigators.

No-Contact Motorcycle Accidents

Motorcyclists, because the vehicle they are riding on is less stable than others, can become injured if the circumstances are right. A motorcyclist injury accident doesn’t necessarily have to mean contact with another vehicle. In the following instances, an injury collision can occur, which means the rider can place a claim to recover compensation for their trauma:

  • A crash up ahead: If an accident occurs on a highway ahead of a rider, all the traffic is going at a high rate of speed. This makes it difficult or impossible for vehicles coming up from behind the initial impact to stop. If a motorcyclist attempts to stop suddenly, the rider can lose control and end up crashing.
  • Road neglect: Oil, gravel, dropped objects or animals in the roadway can lead to a motorcyclist injury accident. These types of accidents occur when the rider’s bike slides due to wet surfaces, runs into gravel or other obstacles in the roadway or swerves to miss an animal. When government negligence causes a motorcycle accident injury, the rider can place a claim to recover compensation. Because the time limit to file a claim of this type is six months, using an accident attorney to handle your case might be advisable.
  • Rider negligence: A motorcyclist who is speeding, distracted or committing other errors on the highway can end up crashing.
