Vallejo Uber Hit-and-Run Causes Injury

Officers of the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) are looking for two suspects after a hit-and-run accident that happened on Friday, April 5, 2019. The crash involved two vehicles, including an Uber carrying one passenger. According to reports, the Uber driver suffered moderate injuries during the accident. Police suspect that the missing suspects may also have been injured.

Crash Details

The accident happened just after 5:00 p.m. The Uber driver had just picked up a female passenger and was attempting to make a left turn off of Mississippi Street to enter Sacramento Street. Right as the man began to perform the turn, a black Kia rushed into the intersection and T-boned his vehicle. The driver and passenger of the Kia immediately exited their vehicle and hobbled away from the accident scene.

A nearby residence’s security camera caught video of the crash. After watching the video of his accident, the driver told reporters that the collision looked severe and that he would have assumed the accident caused fatal injuries if he didn’t know better. Reports stated that the driver injured his knee and shoulder while the Uber passenger sustained a possible leg injury.

Investigation

Police are trying to locate the missing driver and passenger who left the accident scene. Officers say they are reviewing the video evidence to identify the missing persons. However, physical descriptions of the suspects have not been provided. Anybody who has information about this accident or the identity or location of the suspects is encouraged to contact VPD to report what they know.

Hit-and-Run Accidents

Hit-and-run accidents can be more stressful than regular vehicle collisions because injured parties are worried about how they will be able to pay for medical expenses and other losses when there is no at-fault party to hold financially responsible. The missing driver is often found and can be held accountable. However, even if the driver is never found, people may still have options for claiming compensation.

One of the ways that people can claim compensation after a hit-and-run crash is through “Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage.” This coverage is included in many insurance plans and allows people to receive money for their damages when a driver cannot be held accountable. However, this type of coverage is optional, and not all policies will pay the same amount. If you’ve been hurt in a hit-and-run crash, it is best to speak with a personal injury attorney as soon as possible so that you know what damages you can claim.
