Vallejo Police Traffic Enforcement

I’m Ed Smith, a Vallejo Auto Accident Lawyer. The number of cases involving vehicles colliding into pedestrians in the city of Vallejo has been on the rise. However, authorities are stepping up and improving the safety for pedestrians on the street by monitoring drivers on the roadways.

The Vallejo Police Department Traffic Division will be issuing citations for drivers that are found violating traffic laws. The department has created a map of the locations with pedestrian accidents that have happened within the past three years. Some of the factors that cause pedestrian accidents consist of drivers speeding, driving under the influence, failure to yield the right of way to pedestrians walking on the crosswalk, and pedestrians that are walking on the outside of the crosswalk boundaries.

Vallejo Police Department Reports

The Vallejo Police Department reports that a majority of the pedestrian accidents that have happened in Vallejo have taken place at the intersection of Curtola Parkway and Marin Street as well as Capitol Street at Sonoma Boulevard. For the following reasons, officers monitored traffic at these intersections on Sunday, August 28, 2016. Officers issued 28 citations that day including a driver that was driving with a suspended driver’s license.

Pedestrian Accident Statistics

According to authorities, the year of 2016 has had the most pedestrian fatalities in total than the sums of the years of 2013, 2014 and 2015 for the city of Vallejo. Labor Day weekend is considered to be the most susceptible holiday for fatalities caused by motor vehicles. The National Safety Council expects that 30 million motorists will be on the road this year and an estimate of 405 deaths will happen during the Labor Day weekend.
