Police Traffic Enforcement in Vallejo

The number of cases involving vehicles colliding with pedestrians in Vallejo has increased. However, authorities are stepping up and improving the safety of pedestrians on the street by monitoring drivers on the roadways.

Why?

The Vallejo Police Department Traffic Division will issue citations for drivers found violating traffic laws. The department has created a map of the locations of pedestrian accidents within the past three years. Some of the factors that cause pedestrian accidents consist of drivers speeding, driving under the influence, failure to yield the right of way to pedestrians walking on the crosswalk, and pedestrians walking outside the crosswalk boundaries.

Vallejo Police Department Reports

The Vallejo Police Department reports that most of the pedestrian accidents in Vallejo have occurred at the intersection of Curtola Parkway and Marin Street and Capitol Street at Sonoma Boulevard. For the following reasons, officers monitored traffic at these intersections on Sunday, August 28, 2016. Officers issued 28 citations that day, including a driver with a suspended driver’s license.

Pedestrian Accident Statistics

According to authorities, 2016 had the most pedestrian fatalities in total than the sums of 2013, 2014, and 2015 in Vallejo. Labor Day weekend is considered to be the most susceptible holiday for fatalities caused by motor vehicles. The National Safety Council expects that 30 million motorists will be on the road this year, and an estimated 405 deaths will happen during Labor Day weekend.
