Vacaville Collision Injures Woman

I’m Ed Smith, a Vacaville brain injury lawyer. Officers from the Vacaville Police Department (VPD) reported that a woman received serious injuries during a car accident that occurred in Vacaville on Monday, February 26, 2018. The woman’s injuries included head trauma.

Accident Details

VPD reported that the accident occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. when a 37-year-old woman from Vacaville had been driving northbound on Vine Street in a white-colored Ford Focus. The report indicates that the woman’s vehicle slid off of the left side of the roadway before colliding with a nearby tree.

No other vehicles were reported to have been involved in this accident.

Serious Injuries

Sgt. Nate Benevides of VPD told reporters the woman was found trapped inside of her wrecked vehicle and needed to be extricated before she could be treated for her serious injuries. Emergency medical responders at the accident scene stated that the woman suffered injuries to her head and face. She was transported via ambulance to the Vacaville Kaiser Permanente Medical Center.

My thoughts and prayers are with the injured individual as she makes her recovery.

Investigation

Officials have stated that they believe rainy roads to have been a factor in the car accident. However, the crash remains under investigation and the main causal factors of the collision have yet to be identified. Factors being investigated include a medical emergency, faulty car parts, roadway defects or lack of roadway signage, and more.

Traumatic Brain Injuries

Injuries sustained to the head are likely to result in Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs). These types of injuries can be complex. Any blow to the head should receive immediate medical attention.

While mild TBI injuries can mean temporary brain cell dysfunction and brief memory loss, more serious injuries are liable to cause heavy bleeding, torn tissues, and other brain damage. These serious types of injury, in turn, can cause long-term health issues and even death. Possible long-term effects of TBI include alteration of consciousness, amnesia, confusion, learning difficulty, memory difficulties, loss of balance or coordination, difficulty with speaking, and difficulty with vision and/or hearing.

Other types of TBI effects sometimes aren’t noticeable for long periods of time following the initial accident. Those who suffer brain injuries can potentially suffer from Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia years after they are injured.
