Rider Hospitalized Following Utility Terrain Vehicle Crash With Toyota

A utility terrain vehicle crash with injuries occurred in Vina near Red Bluff on November 8 involving a sedan. The accident occurred at the Vina Road and State Route 99 intersection around 5:16 p.m. When officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) arrived, they discovered a man lying in the roadway and notified the Tehama County Fire Department.

Driver Suffers Injuries in Utility Terrain Vehicle Crash

The driver of the sedan was out of their Toyota Avalon and directing traffic. One-lane traffic control was put in place. The injured man was transported to a hospital by ambulance for treatment of his injuries.

Investigation Underway to Determine Cause of UTV Crash

Both of the vehicles were towed from the scene. An examination of the collision is underway by CHP traffic crash detectives to find out why it happened and to assign fault.

The Safety of UTVs (Utility Terrain Vehicles)

In addition to side-by-sides and quads, UTVs have other names as well. However, their high center of gravity can make them dangerous, and they are prone to rollovers in a utility terrain vehicle crash. Roll bars and seat belts are included in most cars, but drivers should still exercise caution, especially on roads that may be in poor condition.

Where UTVs Are Allowed in California

Side-by-sides are usually not allowed on California highways. However, there are exceptions, including:

  • Crossing a street with two lanes is permitted if the driver crosses at a 90-degree angle.
  • If signs are present that allow UTVs to crossroads of more than two lanes, then it is allowed.
  • Driving on streets is allowed where it is designated, during daylight hours, and a stop light is present. In addition, the UTV must have rubber tires, and the driver must be licensed.

Compensation Following a UTV Accident

If the operator is injured in a utility terrain vehicle crash because of the negligence of another motorist, they may be able to recover compensation. A personal injury lawyer can help. First, they can review your accident case to determine if you can file a claim.

Investigating the Accident

If the attorney believes you have a valid claim in your utility task vehicle crash, they will next investigate the accident to gather the evidence needed to support it. Investigators for the attorney will review the police report, look for surveillance cameras in the area that might have filmed the collision, and go to the accident scene to look for evidence and other techniques.

Recovering Compensation

Once the evidence is compiled, the attorney will assemble it into a strong claim for damages. In addition, the lawyer can negotiate for you with the at-fault driver’s insurance company to obtain a successful resolution. In this way, the injured party can recover compensation for their medical costs, any wages they lost from being unable to work, and their emotional and physical pain and suffering.
