Fairfield Hit-and-Run Kills Two-Year-Old

On Sunday, February 23, 2020, a child was tragically killed during a Fairfield hit-and-run. Officers of the Fairfield Police Department (FPD) say that the child was only two years old and that one individual has been placed under arrest on charges related to the collision.

I would like to express my condolences to the child’s family after they have experienced such a terrible loss.

Crash Details

FPD stated that the accident happened at about 2:00 p.m. in a trailer park on the 2400 block of West Texas Street. Details about how the collision happened have not been reported. However, police say that when they arrived at the crash scene, the driver had abandoned his vehicle and left the site of the accident.

Emergency medical responders found that the child had suffered severe injuries and had him placed on an ambulance and rushed to a nearby hospital. Sadly, the child could not recover and was pronounced deceased later in the day.

Arrest After Fairfield Hit-and-Run

At around 6:00 p.m., the suspected driver, a 32-year-old Fairfield man, returned to the accident scene and was placed under arrest for felony hit-and-run, causing death as well as vehicular manslaughter. The Solano County District Attorney is reportedly reviewing possible additional charges that include DUI and probation violation. FPD has stated that they believe alcohol impairment was a collision factor.

Deadly Accidents and Grief

The grief that families experience after losing somebody they love in a sudden vehicle accident can be very intense. Directly after experiencing such a traumatic loss, it’s common for people to feel like they are in shock, and it can be very difficult to keep up with your normal life. Coping with grief is complicated and looks different for everybody. However, it’s always extremely important to take the steps you can to help yourself heal and to get support from the people you trust in your family and community.

However, families are often not able to fully focus on healing because they are faced with serious financial problems related to the crash. Not only are funeral and burial expenses high, but families are often left with large medical bills related to care their loved one received before passing away.

Getting Help

It isn’t possible to truly make up for what you have lost. However, families are often able to get assistance with paying for hospital bills, burial costs, and more by reaching out to a Fairfield wrongful death lawyer and pursuing a claim. By filing a wrongful death claim, many families are able to obtain the financial security they deserve during a very difficult time.
