What You Should Know About Car Accident Cases

A motor vehicle collision may be devastating to you and your loved ones. A catastrophic crash may leave you with financial hardship, emotional trauma, and physical injuries that may be lasting. If the incident was the result of the negligent actions of another party or entity, you may be entitled to financial compensation for your losses. To accomplish this, you must file a personal injury claim against the insurer representing the other side. While no amount of money can undo the pain or ever make up for what you have gone through, it may help ease your financial concerns while you focus on recovering from your injuries. The damages available in this type of case will depend on the severity of accident-related injuries, type of incident, degree of liability that all parties bear for the crash, and other various factors. Potential economic and non-economic damages may include wage loss, medical bills, loss of consortium, pain, and suffering, and more.

It is essential to seek medical treatment immediately after a car accident, even if you believe that your injuries are minor. When there is a delay in medical care, it may cause the insurance adjuster assigned to your claim to question the severity of your reported injuries or even question if they are related to the incident in question. Aside from this, the insurance company may reach out to you to request a recorded statement within hours or days of the car accident. It is essential to keep the details to a minimum when speaking with the insurance carrier because anything may be taken out of context and used against you. This is the last thing you would want to happen to you, especially when dealing with traumatic injuries, mounting medical bills, and wage loss. That is why it is essential to hire the best accident attorney who will work hard to protect your rights and best interests. How Long After an Accident Can You Bring a Personal Injury Case?

Personal injury cases in California are subject to a strict filing deadline. This is also known as the statute of limitations. Injured parties generally have up to the 2nd anniversary of the car accident to file a lawsuit in court. This must be done if the claim is not settled with the insurer within that time frame. Given that there is so much involved in an accident case, it is a good idea to retain legal counsel to take the burden off your shoulder.
