Two-Vehicle Accident on the El Dorado Freeway Causes Injuries

A two-vehicle accident on a Sacramento freeway on June 2 resulted in minor injuries. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the collision happened around 3:35 p.m. on eastbound U.S. 50 just west of Howe Avenue. The crash, which involved a Tesla and Ford F-150 pickup, left the car undrivable.

Cause of Two-Vehicle Accident Being Determined

Medics with the Sacramento Fire Department came to assess the injuries and reported them as minor. Investigators with the CHP traffic accident unit are determining fault and how the collision occurred.

Delayed Symptoms After an Accident

The importance of understanding that delayed symptoms may occur after a two-vehicle accident cannot be overstated. Symptoms may develop even if you feel fine right after an accident. In case any of the following occur, you should consult a doctor:

  • Pain in the neck or back
  • You feel numb or tingly in your hands, arms, feet or legs
  • Ear ringing that persists
  • Headache, dizziness or lightheadedness or vision problems
  • Anxiety, sleep problems, memory loss or confusion
  • Nausea or abdominal pain
  • Bleeding, bruising, or swelling that is unexplained

Delayed Symptom-Related Injuries

A person can develop serious health problems if they are experiencing delayed symptoms. There are a number of serious issues that can cause delayed symptoms, such as:

  • Strains and sprains: Strains and sprains of the muscles can cause delayed symptoms such as pain, stiffness and weakness. These symptoms might indicate a torn ligament or muscle.
  • Head trauma: Head trauma can range from mild to severe, and the extent of injury might be delayed. Any type of head injury should be checked by a physician to rule out potential complications.
  • Abdominal injuries: Deep bruising may indicate a serious problem, such as internal bleeding or damage to an organ.
  • Nerve damage: Nerve damage can cause pain, numbness and weakness. If you ignore those symptoms, they can worsen.
  • Chest trauma: Trauma to the chest can be life-threatening and indicate bleeding, lung or heart injuries or broken ribs or collarbone. Immediate medical attention is necessary to diagnose and treat the problem.
  • Cervical strain or sprain: Pain and stiffness in the neck, shoulders or arms can indicate this type of injury. Lack of treatment can cause further problems and cause long-term damage or disability. Having medical attention early on, as well as appropriate treatment, can prevent the patient from developing a chronic condition, which can limit their ability to work and enjoy their life.
  • Damage to the spinal cord or back: Back pain following a two-vehicle accident can range from simple strains or sprains to more serious problems such as a fractured disc or other spinal cord trauma.
