Two Teenagers Injured in Modesto Rollover

Two Teenagers Injured in Modesto Rollover

Two teenagers were hospitalized following a rollover accident that took place near Modesto High School on Thursday, June 27, 2019. The accident involved two vehicles and happened in the afternoon. Updates from medical staff at the hospital indicated that neither of the teens suffered life-threatening trauma. However, specific information about their injuries was unavailable at the time of reporting. Officials of the Modesto Police Department (MPD) have reported that they are currently investigating this incident in order to determine what factors were involved.

Crash Information

A 19-year-old man had been driving a black Jeep SUV eastbound along Paradise Road with a teenage girl as a passenger. The Jeep reportedly attempted to turn left at the intersection of First Street, entering the path of an oncoming Honda that had been traveling west on Paradise. The Honda collided with the broadside of the Jeep, causing major damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. The Jeep reportedly came to a rest on its side after rolling over.

Response

Local authorities responded to the accident immediately. Upon arriving at the scene of the collision, emergency staff found that at least one individual was trapped inside of the overturned vehicle. Firefighters cut away the vehicle’s roof in order to extricate the trapped individual(s). Both the Jeep’s driver and passenger were transported to a nearby hospital, reportedly for treatment of minor injuries and screening for more serious trauma.

Investigation

While the causes of this accident remain unclear, collisions like this one frequently involve multiple factors, many of which can be outside the control of the drivers involved. Such factors include defective auto parts, pavement issues, inadequate vehicle safety, poor roadway design, and more.

Rollovers and Liability

Vehicle rollovers are one of the most dangerous types of accidents, especially when the roof of a car isn’t strong enough to protect the people inside of it. When this happens, people often suffer crushed roof injuries that could have been avoided if the vehicle manufacturer had made a simple change to their product. In these cases, the injured parties may be able to claim compensation from the manufacturers of the vehicle in order to cover the cost of ambulance bills, hospital stays, surgeries, and other expenses.
