Details on the Madera Motorcycle Accident That Claimed the Lives of Two Riders

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said a driver of a 2011 Hyundai approached Island Drive, slowed their vehicle, and started to turn left at the intersection. While doing so, the Hyundai entered the direct path of a 2016 Harley Davidson.

The Harley carrying two parties was struck by the Hyundai. This caused the rider, a 67-year-old man, and his passenger, a 63-year-old woman, to be propelled off the motorcycle. The rider was taken by air ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. The passenger was transported to Madera Community Hospital. Sadly, both the rider and passenger succumbed to their injuries during hospitalization.

CHP traffic officers indicated that it is unknown why the Hyundai driver did not see the motorcyclist. Police said the cause of the motorcycle accident is under investigation, and charges have not yet been filed.

Can I Bring a Wrongful Death Claim for a Fatal Motorcycle Crash?

The loss of a loved one in an accident that could have been prevented may often leave lasting anguish and pain. The initial feelings of loss and grief may be followed by frustration and anger from the thought that someone else’s negligence was the root cause of emotional and financial hardship. The unfortunate reality is that while surviving family members are making funeral arrangements, the insurance company is already working at devising defense strategies to impact survivors’ ability to seek fair compensation for their loss. Bringing a successful wrongful death case takes skill, experience, and resources only an attorney may have.
