Two Suffer Injuries During SUV Rollover in Napa County

Two individuals suffered injuries during an SUV rollover in Napa County that took place on Sunday, October 4, 2020. According to police, the crash was a single-vehicle accident and happened in the very early morning. Additionally, updates from medical officials indicated that out of the two injured individuals, only one suffered severe trauma. The cause of the crash remains under California Highway Patrol (CHP) investigation.

Crash Information

According to information from CHP reports, the accident happened at approximately 2:20 a.m. on the northbound side of Highway 29 to the south of the Highway 221 intersection. A 21-year-old man from Sonoma had been driving a 2006 Dodge Durango on the highway with a 19-year-old woman from Napa as his passenger.

Police indicated that the SUV collided with a construction closure object related to a local Caltrans project. As a result, the SUV drove up a nearby embankment and eventually overturned, landing on its roof.

Response

Responders were sent to the scene right after CHP dispatch received an alert about the crash. When officers arrived, they discovered that the Durango’s passenger had sustained major trauma. The woman was placed on an American Medical Response ambulance to the Queen of the Valley Hospital. The driver reportedly sustained minor injuries and was transported to the same hospital for treatment and further injury screening.

Investigation

As their investigation into the cause of the crash continues, police have indicated that they suspect DUI may have been a factor. Collisions that involve a single vehicle may be caused by more than one factor and frequently involve non-driver causes like hazardous roads or defective auto parts.

Rollover Accidents are Dangerous

Car accidents always present the risk that vehicle occupants will suffer injuries. However, rollover crashes have an unusually high rate of severe and deadly injuries when compared to most other accident types. This is due to a number of reasons, but one key factor is that car roofs frequently are not strong enough to withstand a serious impact, which can lead to roof crush injuries. This can be an issue if the roof is made of weak material or is not designed properly.

If the roof of the vehicle is determined to have been unsafe, the company that made the vehicle is frequently considered negligent and can be held liable for damages suffered during the accident. This can be accomplished through filing a product liability claim against the company with the help of an experienced attorney. Because your lawyer needs to be able to investigate the damaged vehicle in order to find out whether or not a weak roof was involved, it’s important to preserve your wrecked car following your accident.

Finding an Excellent Lawyer

Car accidents can be a huge source of stress, and people may feel overwhelmed. During this time, many people think of searching for an attorney as an added stress factor. However, having a lawyer early on after a crash can be a critical part of claiming fair compensation. Fortunately, finding a good lawyer isn’t hard if you know how to look.
