Two Hospitalized After Redding Car Crash

Two Hospitalized Following Redding Car Crash

A Redding car crash injured two people on Saturday, May 9, 2020. The collision happened in the afternoon and involved two vehicles. According to information from the Redding Police Department (RPD), one of the injured parties suffered severe trauma, while the other sustained minor injuries. Both individuals were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Crash Information

The crash occurred at 2:30 on Old Oregon Trail close to the intersection at Paso Robles Avenue on the northern edge of Redding. Police reported that two sedans, one red, and one grey, were traveling in opposite directions on Old Oregon Trail. For unknown reasons, the two sedans collided head-on, causing significant damage to the front ends of both vehicles. The two sedans reportedly needed to be towed from the accident site.

Response

Police dispatched an emergency team to the collision scene right away. As they arrived, responders discovered that the drivers of both vehicles were injured. Hospital staff have not provided further updates on the medical condition of the injured individuals. Furthermore, no other individuals were reported to have been involved in this accident.

Investigation

RPD is actively investigating what may have caused this accident, and police have stated that they are looking into whether or not a medical emergency may have been involved. Officers have reported that they do not suspect intoxicated driving to have played a role. Head-on accidents like this one are often caused by multiple factors, and many common car crashes are not under driver control. Non-driver accident factors can include issues with the road and malfunctioning car parts.

Head-On Accidents

During a head-on accident, both vehicles transfer their total momentum into each other. This means these collisions involve a lot of force and can easily lead to severe injuries. While vehicles are usually designed to withstand significant impacts to their front ends, the sheer amount of force involved in a head-on crash means these accidents are still hazardous. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, head-on crashes in the US have had a fatality rate of over fifty percent over recent years.

Recovering After a Wreck

Recovering after being injured in a car accident can be very difficult. Accident injuries are often excruciating, and physical recovery can take months or even years. With severe injuries, crash survivors may suffer permanent symptoms. Not only are injuries painful, but recovering from them can be stressful, and many crash survivors deal with mental health issues due to their accidents.

Furthermore, collisions can be expensive. Medical bills, lost income, property damage, and other losses can leave accident survivors feeling overwhelmed and unsure of how they will be able to move forward with their lives. In this situation, the best thing to do is call a Redding personal injury lawyer who can advise you about claiming compensation for your losses. By filing an injury claim, total compensation for your sustained damages is often possible.
