Tuolumne Crash Fatally Injures Modesto Woman

Accident Details
A 73-year-old Modesto woman was behind the wheel of her 1999 Toyota Corolla traveling along Tuolumne Road in the vicinity of Westside Road at approximately 1:25 pm. According to officials, the vehicle allegedly veered off the roadway, overcorrected and collided with a rocky hillside along the north side of the road. The elderly woman was the sole occupant of the Toyota at the time of the collision.
Modesto Woman Passes Away During Hospitalization
Emergency personnel was called to the area of the car accident. Medical crews located an elderly motorist upon arrival and conducted a medical evaluation. The woman appeared to have suffered significant harm and was transported via air ambulance to the Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries during hospitalization.
Accident Investigation
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is the agency in charge of handling this alleged single vehicle accident. Officials suspect that a second vehicle may have been involved in the accident and fled the scene following the crash. The exact cause of the accident has not yet been determined due to ongoing investigation.
