The California Highway Patrol reported a fatal truck crash on I-5 and Nees Avenue on the afternoon of Thursday, August 4, 2022. The big rig collision took place on northbound Interstate 5 near the Nees Avenue off-ramp, according to CHP traffic officers.

A preliminary report revealed that a 17-year-old Los Angeles resident was driving a Hyundai while on the Nees Avenue off-ramp of northbound Interstate 5. The Hyundai stopped at a posted stop sign and entered the intersection. This was where the Hyundai was involved in a collision with a Honda that was headed westbound on Nees Avenue. The Honda was reportedly broadsided by a large truck headed eastbound on Nees Avenue, officials said.
The impact of the collision allegedly propelled the Honda off the roadway, causing it to roll down an embankment. The Hyundai driver and the truck driver, a 30-year-old Fresno resident, were uninjured in the crash, officials reported. Sadly, the Honda driver, a 38-year-old man from Mendota, was declared deceased at the scene. Officials have withheld his name due to pending family notification.
