Tri Delta Transit Announces ‘Tri My Ride’ App

In recent news, Tri Delta Transit made a public announcement regarding the launch of its new app called Tri My Ride. It’s a dynamic and flexible on-demand shuttle service that is operating within neighborhoods near both the Antioch and Pittsburg Bay Point BART stations. The six-month pilot program shuttle services officially began operation mid-June, with Tri My Ride available Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Rideshare Apps More Popular Than Ever

Among other ride-hailing services, such as Uber and Lyft, Tri My Ride functions as a smartphone app-based service where users can schedule personalized curb-to-curb rides. This app gives users the option to create their customized travel plans anywhere within the Antioch/Hillcrest BART service area, the Pittsburg Bay Point/San Marco service area to BART, or to a designated drop-off location within the service area. The app service uses proprietary software that connects bus operators to app users in a way that allows the bus drivers to efficiently pick-up and drop-off passengers.

The Present and Future of Tri My Ride

The shuttle service employs small, neighborhood-friendly buses that can quickly and safely maneuver through residential streets. Additionally, passengers that have already traveled through Tri Delta Transit should have a comfortably familiar experience when they request a ride through Tri My Ride. The bus operators of Tri My Ride have to pass the same background screening process that is required of Tri Delta Transit operators. All vehicles contain surveillance cameras, are wheelchair accessible, and can accommodate persons with disabilities.

The cost to ride is a shockingly affordable value of only $2 per trip, making Tri My Ride much more cost-effective for riders as compared to similar rideshare options. Payments can be processed electronically through the app, or with cash-in-hand. Another safety accommodation for passengers is that all bus operators are certified through the Department of Transportation, background checked, and subject to random drug tests. All shuttle buses are fully insured and properly maintained to meet standard requirements.

According to Jeanne Krieg, Chief Executive Officer of Tri Delta Transit, they are receiving many requests for location expansions following the completion of the pilot program. She stated that the hope for the future is to have Tri My Ride everywhere in East County. The two areas that were chosen for operation under the pilot program were picked after running an algorithm created by their software developer. The algorithm looked at various local neighborhoods and took into consideration population/housing densities, travel patterns, population statistics, and natural boundaries. The analysis concluded that the pilot was most likely to be successful at the Pittsburg Bay Point and Antioch BART service areas.

Krieg stated that Tri Delta Transit was happy to be a partner with technology companies to meet the evolving needs of the passengers in their community. The smartphone app is a modern feature that provides additional convenience to users that would like the benefit of on-demand rideshare service. According to Krieg, the main purpose of the pilot program is to collect data that can be used to decide if expanding the service to other local neighborhoods will be a practical move for the future.
