Two-Vehicle Crash Sends Car into Child’s Bedroom

A recent traffic accident in West Sacramento involving a two-vehicle accident sent one of the vehicles into the bedroom of a little girl, destroying it. The cause was an intersection crash in front of the home. Family members say the engine compartment of the car ended up inside the child’s room, but fortunately, no one was in the bedroom at the time of the accident.

Accident Could Have Been Worse, According to Resident of the Home

One of the residents in the home said that the reason the car didn’t enter even further into the room was that the bedroom contains a safe weighing 800 pounds. Even so, the safe was pushed out of place by around three feet. The accident is under investigation by authorities to determine fault and how the crash happened.

Latest Intersection Traffic Accident Statistic

According to the Federal Highway Administration, the number of injury and fatality accidents that occur in intersections rose to more than 50 percent in 2020. It isn’t surprising considering vehicles are converging from all different directions, and the danger is compounded by bicycle riders, pedestrians and others. When someone is injured by a negligent driver or other entity, they may place a compensation claim to recover their lost wages, medical expenses, and for their pain and suffering.

Causes of an Intersection Traffic Accident

A traffic accident at an intersection can have many causes, and almost all of them include negligence. Some of the reasons traffic crashes happen at or near an intersection include:

  • Speeding: A speeder may be unable to stop in time at an intersection, so they run the red light instead.
  • Tailgating: A tailgater may be unable to stop in time to avoid a collision with the vehicle ahead when traffic slows at an intersection.
  • Distracted driving: Distracted driving is the major cause of all accidents these days. Most drivers who are distracted are either texting or talking on a cell phone. Even though hands-free phone use is legal in California, it is almost as dangerous as holding one in your hand and driving because it takes the motorist’s thoughts away from the road.
  • Fatigued driving: Being too tired to drive is comparable to being inebriated because it can have the same effect. A fatigued driver can also fall asleep or allow their vehicle to drift into another lane without noticing until it is too late.
  • Drunk or drugged driving: A drunk driver exhibits slowed reflexes, poor reasoning skills and their visual tracking ability is reduced.
  • Government neglect: Negligence by a government entity comes in the form of potholes, bad lighting, malfunctioning traffic signals and overgrown shrubbery that obstructs a driver’s vision.
