What Damages are Recoverable in a Personal Injury Claim?

When a traffic crash leaves an individual injured, their injuries may lead to mounting medical bills, lost earnings from missing work, and impact their ability to complete everyday tasks. If the incident was the result of driver negligence, an injured party may have grounds for a claim for damages. Through a bodily injury claim, an injured person may seek reimbursement for economic and non-economic damages.

Recoverable damages may include costs of medical treatment, wage loss, diminished earning potential from permanent injury/disability, pain and suffering, and other accident-related damages. To seek reimbursement for losses, it is essential for the injured party to keep records of all their losses and expenses associated with their injuries.

Compensation in a personal injury claim is intended to make the claimant whole again. However, not all insurers see it that way. Insurance carriers are concerned with protecting profit margins and that may often mean paying the lowest amount possible on claims or outright denying them. Protect your right to full financial recovery and retain legal counsel immediately following a car accident in Pleasanton, California.
