Arden Arcade Traffic Accident Sends Three to Hospital

A traffic collision in Arden Arcade on Wednesday evening, December 11, injured an adult and two children near a local shopping area. The accident occurred along Watt Avenue near Arden Way at around 7:15 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), when a pickup struck a car that was pulling out of the shopping area. The driver of the pickup was injured. It was not reported which vehicle the children were riding in. The CHP is in charge of the investigation into what caused the crash.

Three People Transported to Hospital Following Crash

All three were transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment after being checked out by emergency responders at the scene. It took about an hour for cleanup crews to clear the traffic collision scene, and the roadway in the vicinity of the crash was closed during that time. Rainy weather conditions may have contributed to the accident. One officer pointed out that in rainy weather, a motorist may need a longer stopping distance, and the vehicle might slide because of the wet road conditions.

Driver Behavior

Driver behavior that might be perfectly safe during a bright sunny day or in a well-lit area after dark may be fine. However, when it is raining or the roadway is wet, those same actions on a clear day may cause an accident. Shopping plaza entrances and exits can be especially tricky because the motorist pulling out may not look carefully before doing so and cause a traffic collision. Another vehicle passing by or approaching the entrance or exit of a shopping center may not be aware that another vehicle is pulling out, which can also cause a crash. Other driver errors can include:

  • Making an illegal turn
  • Speeding
  • Distracted driving
  • Running a stop sign or red light
  • Not using turn signals to indicate a lane change
  • Fatigue
  • Drunk or drugged driving
  • Exiting from a side road without a clear view of traffic

Seeking Help From a Personal Injury Lawyer

When you or a family member has been injured through negligence, asking for advice from a personal injury lawyer is a good idea. The lawyer can look over the details of your accident and determine if you have a case, answer your questions and tell you what options are available to recover damages. My law firm sends investigators to the accident site to interview witnesses and go over the police report to look for errors. The investigators will look for video footage that might be available from traffic cameras or businesses that are nearby. Other methods, such as accident reconstruction, can help with the before and after placement of the vehicles and can be used against the at-fault driver. Once the information is accumulated, it is then handed over to our lawyers. They can use this evidence to build a strong case to either present in civil court or in negotiations on your behalf with the insurance company.
