Three Injured in DUI Crash in Modesto Area
A crash left three injured, and one party was arrested on suspicion of DUI in the Modesto area on Tuesday, December 21, 2021. The traffic collision occurred around 5:35 p.m. along South Ninth Street in the vicinity of Wisenor Avenue.
Details on the DUI Crash That Left Three Injured in the Modesto Area
A Dodge Ram was towing a two-axle flatbed trailer and was parked along the east shoulder of the road. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the pickup truck was parked in front of an auto recycling business and was legally parked on the street. A man that was sitting in the left rear passenger seat exited the vehicle to enter the business.
Officials said not even a minute passed and a driver of a Honda Accord allegedly crashed into the driver’s side of the Dodge. The point of impact on the pickup truck was exactly where the left rear passenger was seated, CHP traffic officers said. A preliminary investigation revealed that the Honda traveled up the flatbed trailer and collided with the rear window of the Dodge.
There were three other parties inside the parked Dodge at the time of the incident. This included the driver and two passengers, with one in the front seat and the other in the right rear seat. Authorities reported that all three parties suffered injuries described as minor, including facial lacerations.
The Honda driver, a 58-year-old Modesto man, was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol. Additional information on the car accident in Modesto was not immediately available due to ongoing investigation by the CHP.
