Three Injured In Crash Near Oroville
Police reported that a major injury accident took place near Oroville during the late afternoon on Monday, May 27, 2019. According to reports from California Highway Patrol (CHP), three people, including one minor, were left with injuries as a result of the crash. Officials confirmed that at least one of the injured individuals suffered major injuries and was transported to a hospital for emergency care. Updates on the condition of the injured individuals have not yet been provided by hospital staff. Additionally, the incident remains under investigation by CHP officers.
According to information from CHP, the accident took place at about 3:00 p.m. A black sedan had been driving on Palermo Road in a rural area of Butte County about four miles south of Palermo Road. Reports indicate that the sedan failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Lone Tree Road. As the sedan traveled through the intersection, it collided head-on with the front passenger’s side of a white work truck. The truck was knocked off of the roadway while the sedan came to a stop on the edge of Palermo Road. Photos of the collision scene show major damage to the front ends of both the sedan and pickup truck.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the crash site directly after CHP received notification of the accident. When emergency personnel arrived, they discovered three individuals with injuries. While at least one of the injured individuals was hospitalized for serious trauma, how many people suffered severe injuries was not reported.
Authorities diverted traffic around the accident scene while responders cared for the individuals injured during the crash. The accident scene remained closed to traffic while investigators searched the scene of the crash for evidence. So far, investigators have not released a full report regarding the factors suspected to have been involved in this accident. Multi-vehicle accidents like this one are often caused by factors such as speeding, driving under the influence, auto product defects, distraction, and more.
