One of the patients attended to by the Berkeley Fire Department, a woman in her 90s, reportedly suffered a serious injury. The two other seniors appeared to have less serious trauma. One person sustained facial injuries. Authorities reported that the other two senior citizens sustained less serious injuries and were transported to the hospital primarily as a precautionary measure.

Authorities Seek Fleeing Driver Following Berkeley Hit-and-Run

Police determined that the driver of a white Volvo registered to an address in Pittsburg abandoned the car and fled the scene on foot, according to radio communications. Both vehicles involved in the collision were later removed from the area by tow trucks as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are currently working to locate the suspect and gather more information about the incident.

How an Accident Lawyer Locates a Hit-and-Run Driver

An accident lawyer often begins by gathering evidence from the scene, such as surveillance footage, witness statements, and photos of the area. Security cameras from nearby businesses or traffic cameras may have captured the vehicle in question, providing crucial leads. Additionally, the lawyer may collaborate with law enforcement to access investigative records and databases for further information.

Witness accounts can also play a vital role, as they may recall specific details like the car’s make, model, license plate, or direction of travel. Sometimes, physical evidence left at the scene can be analyzed to narrow down possible suspects. With a combination of legal expertise and diligent investigation, an accident lawyer efficiently pieces together evidence to identify the driver and seek justice for their client.

Using Your Car Insurance to Pay for Damages if the Hit-and-Run Driver Isn’t Located

If the Berkeley hit-and-run driver cannot be identified, your own car insurance policy may help cover the damages, depending on the type of coverage you have. Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage can be used to recover compensation for your injuries if the hit-and-run driver cannot be located, in addition to the damages to your vehicle. Enlisting the help of an accident lawyer who is experienced in handling these types of insurance claims may be advisable.
