Three Dead Following Collision in Oroville

Three people tragically lost their lives in a collision in Oroville that occurred on Sunday, April 12, 2020. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has released a report about the accident, indicating that the decedents included a 32-year-old man as well as two young children aged seven months and one year old, respectively. In addition to the three decedents, a 27-year-old man and 23-year-old woman, both from Sacramento, were also injured. I would like to offer my condolences to those who are grieving after this terrible car accident.

Collision Information

The crash reportedly happened on Grand Avenue to the west of Gold Country Lane. The 27-year-old man was allegedly driving a 2004 GMC Sierra westbound on Brookman at a high rate of speed when his vehicle reached the end of the road. The driver was reportedly unable to stop his vehicle and struck a fence before colliding with an embankment. The collision caused the vehicle to become airborne, eventually landing in the Thermalito Dam canal. According to CHP, the vehicle was fully submerged in the canal.

The 23-year-old woman and driver were both able to free themselves from the vehicle. However, reports indicated that the adult and children in the back seat were trapped. After arriving at the crash scene, emergency responders were able to extricate the three individuals from the vehicle.
