West Sacramento Three-Car Crash Causes Trauma

Three-Car Crash on U.S. 50 Leaves One Driver Unconscious

A three-car crash on June 2 in West Sacramento along westbound U.S. 50 caused injuries. The accident happened just east of the connector to westbound Interstate 80 just after 5:00 p.m., blocking three lanes during rush hour. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers reported that the accident involved a Mazda CX and Honda Civic, with one of the drivers passing out and blocking lane two.

Several other lanes were blocked by the collision as well. The extent of injuries to the one driver in the three-car crash was not reported. All vehicles were towed from the scene. The accident is under review by the CHP traffic collision investigation unit to determine how it occurred and to place fault.

Personal Injury Claims and Recovering Compensation

You may be entitled to compensation if you suffer injuries as a result of a three-car crash caused by another driver or entity. It is possible to recover the following damages for personal injuries, depending on your circumstances:

  • Medical costs: A three-car crash or another negligence-related incident can result in medical expenses being recovered. Hospitalization and surgery can lead to high medical costs, depending on the type of injury. These costs are also increased by ambulance fees, physician bills, medication, testing, and rehabilitation. All medical costs associated with your injury accident are recoverable.
  • Wages: There is a possibility of recovering lost wages as a result of the inability to work. When a worker is injured, he or she may take unpaid vacation time or sick time. There is a possibility of recovering that as well as other perks of your job, such as insurance or pension benefits. Self-employed or contract workers can establish their earnings with tax filings and other information.
  • Being unable to return to your job: Some workers cannot return to their previous jobs due to physical limitations, and they have to take a lower-paying one instead. It is possible to recover the difference in pay.
  • Permanent disability: People who become permanently disabled due to the negligent actions of others and can no longer work can recover their earnings up to retirement age, including bonuses such as pensions and insurance coverage.
  • Pain and suffering: The physical trauma that occurs in two-vehicle crashes can result in compensatory damages for pain and suffering. There is a possibility of recovering compensation in that case. There are, however, often additional psychological and emotional traumas as well, which can also be recovered. According to the National Institutes of Health, about half of all survivors of motor vehicle accidents suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.
