Allegations of Abuse at Napa Nursing Home

Allegations of Abuse at Napa Nursing Home

I’m Ed Smith, a Sacramento Nursing Home Abuse Lawyer. Following the death of 87-year-old Napa resident Frances Blanton, the Napa Valley Care Center is being sued for elder abuse, negligent hiring practices as well as negligence on the part of staff supervisors. The suit, filed by the daughter of the deceased, alleges that the staff did not provide the necessary care which ultimately resulted in the alleged wrongful death of her mother. Frances had initially been transferred to the residential care facility after falling in her home and fracturing her pelvis. She was admitted to the center for rehabilitation and to prevent further illness including assistance maintaining personal hygiene, proper nutrition and hydration, and frequent repositioning to prevent pressure sores (commonly known as bed sores).

Alarming Findings in Nursing Home Abuse Probe

Hi, I’m Ed Smith, a Sacramento Nursing Home Abuse Lawyer. The recent publication from the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued an early alert based on its findings that Medicare and Medicaid had inadequate procedures to ensure reporting of abuse to law enforcement officials. The ongoing review to detect and combat elder abuse found that instances of mistreatment at nursing facilities have been mishandled at alarming rates. The audit has already found 134 victims whose injuries may have been the result of potential abuse or neglect from January 1, 2015, through December 31, 2016. A significant percentage of these incidents may not have been reported to law enforcement. See Statistics on Nursing Home Abuse in California & Nationwide.

Nursing Home Complaints

I’m Ed Smith, a Sacramento nursing home abuse lawyer. There has been a troubling trend throughout the state of multiple complaints, lawsuits, and punishments being handed down against nursing homes all across California. People rely on these professional facilities to provide professional care that their loved ones deserve. While many people know how to pick a nursing home, sometimes people can be surprised by what they find on the other side. The Eureka Rehabilitation and Wellness Center was slapped with eight separate fines of $20,000 for a wide variety of violations related to investigations of multiple allegations that were levied against the center.

Alzheimer’s Disease

Alzheimer’s Disease is the most common form of dementia found in the elderly today, directly impacting approximately forty million people. Statistics show that a new patient is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease every four seconds. Although Alzheimer’s Disease is not curable, it is treatable.
