Accident on Mankas Corner Road Occurs When Vehicle Hits Power Pole

A fatality accident in Fairfield claimed the lives of two people after their vehicle hit a power pole on October 5. The collision occurred along northbound Mankas Corner Road around 8:39 p.m. when the driver lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said that neither occupant of the vehicle was using seat restraints at the time of the crash, which ejected one of them from the car. 

Accident on Highway 12 Requires Extrication by Fairfield Firefighters

A major accident occurred in Fairfield on August 13, requiring that firefighters extricate some of the people from their vehicles. The collision occurred between two vehicles sometime before 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 12 and Pennsylvania Avenue, shutting the roadway down in both directions. Crews with the Fairfield Fire Department arrived at the scene to discover that some people were trapped inside their vehicles, including a blue sedan that had the driver’s side panel crushed in. 

Multiple Casualties Reported in Accident on I-80

A multiple-vehicle crash in Fairfield occurred on July 21 that sent seven people to the hospital. The accident happened along Interstate 80 eastbound near Manuel Campos Parkway. The Fairfield Fire Protection District reported that they were joined by Suisun and Vacaville fire personnel to assess those involved in the multiple casualty crash. 

Accident on Highway 12 Injures Two People

A two-vehicle crash in Fairfield on June 1 resulted in two people being taken to a hospital for treatment of their minor to moderate injuries. The accident happened around 9:00 p.m. along Highway 12, according to a representative of the Fairfield Fire Department. One of the vehicles involved in the crash ended up on its side. The driver of the other vehicle had to be extricated by firefighters. No additional information was provided. The collision is under investigation to see how it happened and assign fault. 

Highway 12 Blocked by Multiple Casualty Collision

Multiple people were injured in Fairfield in a highway collision on May 17 shortly before noon. The Fairfield Fire Department reported that the mass casualty accident happened on eastbound Highway 12 near Chadbourne Road. Six people were reported as injured in the collision, with one or more trapped inside their vehicle. 

Several People Require Extraction After Multiple-Vehicle Crash

A multiple-vehicle crash in Fairfield on April 24 sent two people to the hospital. According to the Fairfield Fire Department, the accident involved three vehicles and occurred along I-80 eastbound at Air Base Parkway around 1:46 p.m. Due to the extensive vehicle damage, several people had to be extricated. Battalion Chief Larry Palmer reported that two people were transported to a hospital to treat their injuries. The extent of those injuries is unknown at this time. 

Two People Injured When Truck Runs Off Dickson Hill Road

A run-off-road crash in Fairfield on March 12 injured two people. The accident occurred along Manuel Campos Parkway around Dickson Hill Road, according to a social media report by the Fairfield Fire Department. The truck the two people were riding in left the roadway and crashed into four to five trees, causing extensive damage. 

Addressing the Side Crash Fatality Rate

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) announced its plans to introduce a more stringent side crash test. The reasoning behind creating a tougher test is because side crashes at higher speeds continue to cause fatal injuries. Implementing the test on 2020-21 model year vehicles, only one out of twenty small sport utility vehicles (SUVs) earned a good rating – the Mazda CX-5.

Interstate 80 Multi-Car Incident

During the morning commute on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, a multi-car crash occurred east of Manuel Campos Parkway on westbound Interstate 80. Four vehicles were involved, and at least one person suffered injuries and was transported to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vacaville, according to a spokesperson from the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The collision happened at approximately 7:20 a.m. In addition to the CHP, the scene was attended by Medic Ambulance personnel and the Fairfield Fire Department.
