SUV Crashes Into Home Near Modesto
I’m Ed Smith, a Modesto car accident lawyer. An accident involving an SUV and a home occurred in Modesto during the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 12, 2017.
A 26-year-old man was driving his Ford Expedition SUV westbound along West Granger Avenue in the vicinity of Carlton Avenue at approximately 2:00 am. The Ford allegedly sideswiped two vehicles, collided with a tree and streetlight moments before striking a home along the corner of Carlton Avenue. The impact of the collision caused the house to sustain serious damage.
Home Residents Recall SUV Crash
The residents of the home, identified as a husband and wife, recall the night of the collision. The husband and his wife were watching television together when the husband heard a loud noise from the other room of his home. The man was alarmed by the sound and went to check the other room. Long behold, a Ford Expedition SUV collided with his home, only four feet away from himself and his wife. After heading outside, the man observed the overturned vehicle in his front yard after it tore down part of his home. The impact caused floor mats, car mats and other debris to scatter throughout the property of the home. Thankfully, the man, his wife, and their pets were uninjured in this incident.
According to a spokeswoman from the Modesto Police Department, Heather Graves, the accident is believed to have been caused by drunk driving due to evidence found at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was taken to an area medical center for injury treatment.
