Stockton Man Identified After Fatal Brentwood Car Accident

On Monday, April 5, 2021, officials released the identity of a man who tragically lost his life during a Brentwood car accident. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident happened three days earlier and left 28-year-old Stockton resident Miguel Figueroa-Cruz with fatal trauma. Police indicated that the crash only involved one car and that Figueroa-Cruz was the only occupant of the vehicle. The cause of the accident is still under CHP investigation.

Crash Details

The accident reportedly happened at 3:03 a.m. on the eastbound side of Highway 4, close to Lone Tree Way in the city of Brentwood. After they conducted preliminary investigations, officers stated that they believe Figueroa-Cruz was driving a 2010 Honda sedan east on the highway when, for reasons that remain unknown, he apparently lost control of the car. Subsequently, the Honda traveled off-road and overturned, eventually crashing into the earthen center median. According to reports, the car was seriously damaged during the crash.

Response and Investigation

After the accident was reported, CHP immediately rushed emergency officials to the scene. On-site, responders found that Figueroa-Cruz had suffered critical trauma during the accident. Sadly, he lost his life at the scene.

As CHP investigators continue to look into possible collision factors, police haven’t stated what they believe could have caused this crash. Furthermore, even solo-vehicle collisions can involve multiple factors, and they are often caused by something outside of driver control like faulty brakes or other vehicle parts.

Rollovers and Liability

Information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that rollover car accidents result in more fatal and severe accidents than most other types of collisions. This happens because of a few reasons, but a major reason is roof crush injuries, which happen when the roof of a car isn’t strong enough to hold up during a rollover.

Car companies are expected to sell products that are reasonably safe. For this reason, cases that involve roof crush injuries often include these companies as at-fault parties, meaning that families can hold them responsible through a wrongful death claim. However, in order to claim compensation, your attorney needs to prove that the car’s roof was unsafe. To accomplish this, you need to make sure that you preserve the involved vehicle as evidence for your case.

Calling an Attorney

After fatal accidents, families can feel totally overwhelmed. While it is important to take time to grieve, at-fault parties usually begin building a legal defense as soon as possible and having an attorney early on can make a critical difference. Thankfully, it’s not hard to get in touch with a trustworthy Stockton car accident lawyer if you know what to look for. To learn more, watch this video:
