Stockton DUI Hit-and-Run Fatality

A Stockton DUI hit-and-run fatality occurred on the night of December 20 near the intersection of West Harding Way and Lincoln Street. Officials received a call of a hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian shortly after 9:00 p.m. Medical personnel responding to the scene found a man suffering from major injuries and transported him to a local hospital. Sadly, the man succumbed to his injuries during hospitalization. The identity of the injured pedestrian has been withheld due to pending notification of next-of-kin. My sincere thoughts and condolences are extended to the friends and family of the man during their time of loss and sorrow.

Investigation of the Stockton DUI Hit-and-Run Fatality

Hit-and-Run Accidents Involving Pedestrians

Being involved in a Stockton hit-and-run accident can be a stressful situation, especially as a pedestrian. Drivers involved in such incidents often flee due to being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, not having a valid driver’s license or lack of automobile insurance. In these situations, an injured pedestrian or family of a decedent may turn to their own car insurance policy for coverage so long as that policy has uninsured/underinsured motorist protection. To learn more about this type of insurance, watch the following YouTube video.

What Damages May Be Recovered in a Pedestrian Accident?

As a pedestrian injured by a negligent driver in an accident, you may be entitled to compensation for your injuries and losses. Some of the areas for recovery may include medical expenses, lost wages, loss of future earning potential, disfigurements, diminished quality of life, and more. When a loved one is lost in a pedestrian accident, surviving family members of the decedent may recover compensation in a wrongful death claim to cover end-of-life medical expenses, costs of a loved one’s funeral and burial, loss of income for the household, lost inheritance, and more.
