Stockton DUI Accident Injures Three

A DUI accident in Stockton left three parties injured on the afternoon of February 15, 2019. The incident occurred shortly before 12:30 p.m. near Pacific Street and Madison Street. A 27-year-old woman was driving her vehicle near the intersection when her car collided head-on with a stopped San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) bus. Police responding to the scene arrested the woman on traffic charges and driving under the influence. Moreover, three parties inside the RTD bus were transported to local hospitals for treatment of unspecified injuries. Authorities have not yet released an update regarding the conditions of those injured in the DUI crash.

Common Injuries in Drunk Driving Accidents

A car accident is often a frustrating, overwhelming event. This is especially true when the crash involves a drunk driver. Collisions that occur as a result of intoxication are often the worst since they often involve reckless driving such as running stop signs or red lights and speeding. Any of these negligent driving behaviors can lead to traumatic injuries for those involved. Some of these may include broken bones, cervical sprain, traumatic brain injuries, abdominal trauma, and partial or full paralysis due to spinal cord damage.

Damages in a Drunk Driving Accident

Being injured in a drunk driving accident usually requires a long time to heal emotionally, mentally, and physically. In some cases, medical bills can mount over time and go unpaid if you are not able to return to work. This can raise many financial concerns for an injured party and their family. When this happens, an injured person may file a personal injury claim against the party responsible for the accident damages incurred. These may include medical expenses, time lost from work, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of consortium, disfigurement, emotional distress and mental anguish.
