Stockton Community Events – Summer 2016

The 4th of July holiday weekend has come to a close but the fun continues this summer with Stockton’s Concert in the Park and other summer events and attractions. Go out, support your community, and have safe fun with your family and friends at some of these upcoming Stockton Community Events!

Concert in the Park

Every Wednesday from June 1, 2016, to August 17, 2016, the City of Stockton’s Victory Park hosts live music performances. If you were fortunate enough to be at Victory Park recently, then you had the chance to listen to music performed by the Valley Concert Band. But don’t worry if you were unable to make their recent performance because the Valley Concert Band will be back on August 3. The rest of July will bring performances by the Swingaires on July 13, Would Be Famous on July 20, and Rick Webb on July 27. Finishing out the live summer performances in August, Stockton’s Concert in the Park will host the Valley Concert Band- again- on August 3, Nick Isaak on August 10, and, for the finale, Waterloo on August 17. All concerts start at 6:00 p.m. and end at 8:00 p.m. and are located at Stockton’s Victory Park- 1001 N. Pershing Ave., Stockton, CA 95203.

The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music- Fox Bob Hope Theatre. On Sunday, July 17, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., the iconic Stockton Bob Hope Theatre will feature an all-time classic, The Sound of Music. Ticket prices will be $8 for adults and $4 for children. Bring the whole family to enjoy this movie at the Bob Hope Theatre!

The Bob Hope (Fox California) Theatre in the Downtown Stockton district was one of only two “movie palaces” in the Central Valley. Now it contains a little over 2,040 seats. It is able to host year-round live musicals, theatre, concerts, classic cinema, comedy and family events. Watch this Youtube video for a tour of the beautiful Bob Hope Theatre.

Miracle Mile

Just down the street from the Bob Hope Theatre and a couple miles away from Victory Park is Stockton’s “Miracle Mile,” formally known as Pacific Avenue. The miracle mile features many casual restaurants ranging from wine bars, sushi, Thai, and more. This street also contains many quaint, little shops covering items such as comic books, musical instruments, jewelry, and other specialty items and services.

The Miracle Mile was inspired by a similar strip in Los Angeles. Watch the Youtube Video below to learn more about Stockton’s Miracle Mile.
