Stanislaus County Crash Injures Three

A car accident in Stanislaus County left three parties injured on the morning of January 27, 2019. The collision occurred along River Road and Azevedo Road, just northeast of Newman. One driver was reportedly pulling out of a driveway onto River Road. While doing so, the driver was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The impact of the collision caused major damage to both cars involved in the crash. Medical personnel were called to the scene to transport three parties to the hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. Officials have not yet released an update regarding the conditions of those injured in the car wreck.

Accident Investigation

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has not yet decided a cause of the auto accident. Traffic collision reports by CHP typically take one to two weeks to be processed. However, investigators noted the crash occurred during foggy conditions. Since drivers are expected to use their headlights in these conditions, authorities are unsure whether either motorist had their lights on before the car wreck.

Common Injuries in Fog-Related Accidents

Fog-related accidents often cause the same injuries as those suffered in normal traffic collisions. Those involved in these types of car accidents often sustain multiple injuries. These may include chest trauma, cervical sprain, bone fractures, spinal cord damage, traumatic brain injuries, and more.

Recoverable Damages in a Weather-Related Collision

Motorists are obligated to adjust their driving to the conditions of the road. When inclement weather conditions are present such as poor visibility due to fog or slick pavement caused by heavy rainfall, drivers are expected to adjust their behavior accordingly to maintain control of their vehicle. If a driver fails to do so and causes a serious car wreck, that driver may be considered negligent and potentially responsible for any subsequent damages and injuries.
