Solano California Highway Patrol to Host Class for Teen Drivers

The Solano Area California Highway Patrol (CHP) office will be hosting an online “Smart Start” class for teen drivers. The class is targeted toward drivers who are inexperienced and, according to statistics, much more likely to be involved in car accidents that cause serious or even fatal injuries. The class is part of an effort to reduce the total number of collisions across the county.

The Program

The upcoming “Smart Start” program is scheduled for Thursday, September 10, 2020, and will be conducted virtually via Zoom. CHP indicated that the class would review the most important rules of the road using movies and videos that are designed to inform teenagers and parents about important safety information as well as particular restrictions that are placed on younger drivers.

The classes are free, but parents of teen drivers are required to attend. People wishing to sign up for the class should contact Solano CHP at (707) 428-2100. Additionally, funding for the program is being provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through a grant from the NHTSA.

Teen Driving Accidents

According to CHP, data shows that young drivers who’ve just recently received their licenses are around five times more likely to be in a collision when compared to more experienced drivers. Additionally, car accidents continue to be the number one cause of death for people from the ages of 15 to 20 years old.

Accident Injuries

Car accidents involve a lot of force and, even though vehicles are typically designed to keep occupants as safe as possible during collisions, occupants often sustain major injuries. Common accident injuries include:

All of the above injuries can range from minor to severe and are liable to dramatically affect your life. In many cases, crash survivors need to undergo extensive medical procedures, and the recovery process can take a very long time. In severe cases, crash survivors may be left with symptoms that affect them for the rest of their lives, including things such as chronic pain, cognition difficulties, or limited mobility.

Taking Action

Paying for the necessary medical care after a crash can be hard, especially for people who’ve been left unable to work because of their injuries. Fortunately, it’s possible for injured parties to pursue compensation for their damages, including not only medical bills and lost income, but damaged property, losses related to personal suffering, and more. This is possible through filing personal injury claims.

However, personal injury claims are often complex, and liable parties usually try to avoid financial responsibility. For these reasons, it is very important to get advice from a Fairfield personal injury lawyer before moving forward with your case. Furthermore, the sooner that you contact an attorney, the more effectively they can defend your right to compensation.
